Antique and vintage cameos are highly prized and collectible works of art. When considering a purchase to start or add to your collection the quality of a fine cameo should be judged by the artistic composition, skill and technique of the carver. The wonderful thing about antique and vintage cameos is that no two will be exactly alike, each design will take on the personality and life of its carver. This is what makes collecting cameos so interesting and addicting. The cameos I have available span from the mid. 1800's to the 1950's and are set in various precious metals such as gold filled, sterling silver, 10k, 14k and 18k. There is also a variety of materials used for cameo carvings, choose from hard stone (Onyx or Agate), Helmut shell (varies from beige to brown), Queen Conch Shell (white to pale pink) and Coral (white, pink, salmon, orange and red).    Updated: 01/03/07

ITEM # 2938-450    Early 1900's 14k Hard Stone Bacchantes Cameo Brooch.
CIRCA: 1920's
DESCRIPTION: 14k two tone yellow and rose gold framed black & white onyx cameo brooch. The frame is yellow gold with rose gold ornaments. Has a c-clasp with safety lever. The cameo measures 1 1/2" x 1 1/8" and is a Bacchantes subject facing left with a grape leaves wreath in her hair carved in 2 layers of black & white colored banded Onyx (chalcedony). The back has white swirl marks that is common in chalcedony. Unmarked but electonically tests 14k.
MEASUREMENTS: 2" x 1 5/8".
CONDITION: Very good with minor crazing on the face and upper torso noticeable upon close inspection. It appears that these lines are part of the onyx layer and not due to damage as there are no chips or actual cracks to the carving.
NOTES: It is believed that the cameo is older (possibly mid 1800's) than the frame.

ITEM # 2846-370    Vintage 14k Two Tone Onyx Cameo Ring
CIRCA: 1920's - 1930's
DESCRIPTION: 14k yellow and white gold portrait cameo ring. The cameo measures 14 x 9.5 mm and is carved from 2 layers of  banded Onyx, black and white. Marked 585 for 14k.
MEASUREMENTS: Measures 15/16" by 5/8" across the top by 3/8" in height and is a size 5.
CONDITION: Very good.
NOTES: Tip of nose chipped.

ITEM # 2447-1920    Vintage 14k Onyx Portrait Cameo Ring of Lady with Tiara
CIRCA: 1930's
DESCRIPTION: A large 14k yellow gold portrait cameo ring. The cameo measures 16 x 19 mm and is carved from 2 layers of  banded Onyx, black and white. This subject was expertly carved in great detail by an expert carver. The mounting is very heavy and of solid construction. Weighs 17 grams. Marked 14k on inner band and electronically tested.
MEASUREMENTS: Measures 1 1/8" by 7/8" across the top by 3/8" in height and is a size 7.
CONDITION: Very good.
NOTES: There are 3 small chips noticeable but not distracting on the bust and shoulder area. The ring was sized smaller by having an inner band soldered inside the shank. To size the ring the inner band will have to be removed. Due to the thickness of the shank it is recommended to only size one size increment down, enlarging would not be a problem.

CIRCA: 1930's
DESCRIPTION: Vintage 18k white gold portrait cameo ring of a Roman female subject. The cameo measures 15.5 x 12 mm and is carved in high relief from 2 layers of  banded Onyx, black and white. This subject was expertly carved in great detail by an expert carver. Marked 18k.
MEASUREMENTS: Measures 3/4" by 1/2" across the top by 3/8" in height and is a size 6.
CONDITION: Excellent.
NOTES: No chips or scratches to cameo.

CIRCA: 1980's
DESCRIPTION: 14k yellow gold cameo bi-pass designed ring. Having a 10.5x8.5mm shell cameo which is a replacement. Unmarked but electronically tested.
MEASUREMENTS: Measures 9/16" by 9/16" across the top by 3/16" high and is a size 3 1/2.
CONDITION: Good.
NOTES: The mounting is actually ment for a larger stone but you really can't tell unless you look closely.

ITEM # 2048-570     10k Rose & Yellow Victorian Hardstone Cameo Pendant.
CIRCA: 1870's
DESCRIPTION: The cameo's frame is 10k rose gold with an embossed and hand engraved design. Having a 12 x 9 mm cameo that is carved from (banded agate) black and white Onyx depicting a Grecian lady with a cloak or veil. The chain and bail are 14k yellow gold. Pendant is unmarked.
MEASUREMENTS: Measures 7/8" by 5/8", total length including bail is 1 1/4".
CONDITION: The cameo and frame are in excellent condition.
NOTES: This cameo was converted into a pendant and was originally a stick pin and still has traces of lead solder on the backing. The chain and bail are new.

ITEM # 2021-615     14k Rose Gold Antique Hard Stone Cameo Ring of Scholar.
CIRCA: 1880's
DESCRIPTION: 14k rose gold Banded Onyx Cameo Ring with a rope twist frame. The 17 x 11 mm cameo is carved from (banded agate) sardonyx / Sard and white Onyx depicting an ancient scholar of philosopher, Socrates? The profile is carved in very high relief with exceptional facial features, detailing in the hair and beard is a work of art. Unmarked as to gold content.
MEASUREMENTS: The ring top measures 3/4" x 5/8". Ring size 7.
CONDITION: Good. No damage or wear to facial features, however there are a few cracks and chips to the bottom left on the back ground by the bezel. They are not noticeable during wear.
NOTES: The cracks seem to have been repaired at some point to stabilize. Still a magnificent cameo!

ITEM # 2067-750     10k Rose Gold Antique Hard Stone Cameo Ring.
CIRCA: 1880's
DESCRIPTION: 10k rose gold Banded Onyx Cameo Ring with an embossed and pierced designed band. The 15.5 x 10.5 mm cameo is carved from (banded agate) sardonyx / grayish mauve and white Onyx depicting an Elizabethan lady wearing a headress and earrings. The detailing on the shoulders of this ring is fantastic. Unmarked as to gold content but has a makers symbol.
MEASUREMENTS: The ring top measures 5/8" x 1/2". Ring size 7.
CONDITION: Excellent, just a slight chip of the nose tip.
NOTES: The shank is thin by design.

ITEM # 1241-815     14k Antique Hard Stone Cameo Ring of Grecian Male.
CIRCA: 1880's
DESCRIPTION: 14k yellow gold Banded Onyx Cameo Ring. The 15.5 x 11 mm cameo is carved from (banded agate) black and white Onyx depicting a what appears to be a Grecian male or soldier. The cameo stands out in high relief and is framed in a plain 14k gold bezel setting on a 4mm wide flat band. Unmarked.
MEASUREMENTS: The ring top measures 5/8" x 1/2". Ring size 3.
CONDITION: Very good with 2mm chip in bottom right corner. No wear or chips to cameo.
NOTES: Can be sized up.

CIRCA: 1920's - 1930's
DESCRIPTION: 10k yellow Roman soldier with woman cameo ring. The cameo measures 12 x 9 mm and is carved in high relief from 3 layers of black, white and carnelian colored banded Onyx.
MEASUREMENTS: 1/2" x 7/16" across the top. Ring size 3.
CONDITION: Good, with tiny chip on tip of womans nose.
NOTES: Resizing is available, so don't worry about the small.

ITEM # 1024      14K Rose Gold Hard Stone Cameo Ring.
DESCRIPTION:  The ring is mid. Victorian approximately 1850's - 1860's with a closed back and engraved sides. The 13 x 9 mm cameo is carved from (banded agate) brownish black and white Onyx depicting an Elizabethan lady. The left facing profile is carved in high relief is uncommon, as left facing profiles are carved by a left handed artist. The cameo is framed in a 14k rose gold bezel setting with engraved sides. Measuring 5/8" by 9/16" across the top and is a size 6. Unmarked but acid tests 14k. The condition of the setting is fair to good with a couple of worn spots on the corner of the frame and the shank has been replaced. The cameo is also in good condition with the tip of the nose chipped (noticeable when viewed closely).

ITEM # 1022     10k Victorian Hard Stone Cameo Stick Pin.
DESCRIPTION:  A 10k yellow banded agate Cameo stick pin carved in high relief. The 17 x 12 mm white and black onyx (agate) cameo carving is of an Elizabethan lady in fine detail bezel set in a polished frame. From the back you can see that this was originally a ring and there a noticeable marks and a small hole where the shank was attached. Measures 3/4" x 9/16" with a 3" pin stem.  The cameo is in Excellent condition with no chips, nicks or cracks. The setting is in fair to good condition with the marks on back mentioned above.

DESCRIPTION: 10k white gold men's Art Deco cameo ring. Having a 17x12.5mm cameo that is carved from 2 layers of black and white colored banded Onyx. Marked 10k.
MEASUREMENTS: Measures 3/4" by 5/8" across the top by 3/16" high and is a size 9.
CONDITION: Very good.
NOTES: Slight abrasion to the cameo top surface and wear to the engraved design on one side of the ring.

DESCRIPTION: Gents 10k white Roman soldier with woman cameo ring. The cameo measures 14 x 11.5 mm and is carved in high relief from 3 layers of black, white and carnelian colored banded Onyx. The setting has a millegrain edging and engraved designs.
MEASUREMENTS: 5/8" x 1/2" across the top. Ring size 6.
CONDITION: Good, with the noses on both profiles chipped.

ITEM # 2308-350    Antique 14k Filigree Hardstone Cameo Ring.
CIRCA: 1870's
DESCRIPTION: 14k yellow gold horse shoe shaped filigree mounting with a cameo. The 10 x 7.5 mm cameo is carved from (banded agate) mauve and white Onyx depicting an Elizabethan lady. The cameo appears to be added to sit on top of this mounting where a stone must have originally been. There are still some traces of taille D'epargne enamel on the top of the horse shoe. Unmarked.
MEASUREMENTS: The ring top measures 5/8" in width and 3/8" in height. Ring size is a tiny 2 1/2.
CONDITION: Very good.
NOTES: Can easily be resized.

CIRCA: 1980's
DESCRIPTION: 18k yellow gold three graces cameo pendant. Having a 1 1/8" x 7/8" hand carved shell cameo pendant with a fine wire twist border. Stamped 750.
MEASUREMENTS: 1 1/2" long including bail by 1".
CONDITION: Good with the exeption on missing pin stem noted below.
NOTES: This pendant can be converted to a pin however the stem is missing. We can add a new pin stem for an additional charge or remove the pin attachements (no charge) and just use as a pendant.

DESCRIPTION:  An early 1900's 10k yellow gold Scenic cameo of the biblical theme 'Rebecca at the Well'. The cameo is carved from shell with a beige back ground. The cameo pendant measures 1" and is on a 10k 18" fine cable link chain. In excellent condition with no cracks or crazing. The bail is a replacement. There is no hallmark but tests 10k.

ITEM # 1104     Victorian 18k & 14k Etruscan Revival Coral Cameo Ring.
DESCRIPTION:  Mid. Victorian 1880's Etruscan Revival Coral cameo ring. Having a 13 x 10 mm Orange colored Coral cameo of a young woman. It is set in multi prongs on a 14k oval frame surrounded by Etruscan granulation. The 18k band is not original to the top but is an antique in itself, stamped 18. Currently a size 6 1/2. Measures 3/4" by 11/16" across the top. The cameo is in fair condition with noticeable wear to the nose and chin area, a crack on the far left side and a chip in the bust area.

ITEM # 2405-4250     14k Victorian Link Chain & Hardstone Cameo Locket.
CIRCA: 1880's - 1900
DESCRIPTION: The cameo is 14k yellow and rose gold with a full figure carving of a greek goddess in Sardonyx (banded Onyx). The chain is 14k yellow gold with a double link with pin design secured by a large spring ring clasp. Both items are unmarked but tested for gold content.
MEASUREMENTS: The locket measures 1 1/2" x 7/8" with an 18 x 7 mm cameo. The chain measures 18" in length and is 1/4" wide.
CONDITION: The locket is in good condition with one slight ding on the front, several very slight dings on the back and a slight chip on the bottom of cameo. The chain is in excellent condition.
NOTES: On the interior only one side of locket has a glass cover, the other side has the bezel but glass is missing.
